Religious instruction will use the Bible and Sophia Institute’s Spirit of Truth.  Our Catholic faith will be made explicit in every choice of instructional material and will be incorporated into the life of the school.

History will use a textbook as a spine but will be heavily supplemented with literature, picture books, folk tales, and rhyme related to that time period.

Science Curriculum will be guided by the teacher’s integration of several resources to cover designated topics each year.  At the basis of the curriculum lies the vision of the study of nature as God’s creation and its mysterious beauty and order.  Coursework will emphasize observation, classification, and rendering of living things in a nature notebook.

 Nature study will be enhanced by gardening, bee keeping, and raising chickens.  In practicing the common arts, students will live out their distinctly human capability of creating.  Students will see how the truths revealed in their classwork find their way out into the material world.  Christopher Hall’s Common Arts Education will be a resource for the school.

Saxon textbook daily work along with the teacher’s integration of games, picture books, and activities.  Mathematical concepts will also be emphasized in historical architecture, harmonics in music, the study of visual art’s geometry and perspective, rhyme and meter in language arts, and measurement and constants in nature.
